The Rails Summit Latin America comes to make complete the roster of world wide Ruby on Rails™ events. Inspired by the American RailsConf which gathers around two thousand developers and decision makers, Rails Summit Latin America will bring the main speakers and specialists from around the world to Brazil, including the special participation of the creator of Ruby on Rails™, David Hansson.

With lots of international speakers and Brazilian entrepreneurs, this event will bring the latest news on Ruby on Rails™, becoming the main reference on the subject in Latin America.

This project is headed by Locaweb, the Latin American leader in web hosting and the host of the "Encontro Locaweb de Profissionais de Internet" event - which, in 2008, united more than 3 thousand people - and by Fabio Akita, the main Brazilian Ruby on Rails™ champion.

He will open the event together with Fabio Akita. 9:40 Coffee Break 10:10 Chad Fowler One of the founders of RubyCentral, non-profit company that organizes Ruby and Rails™ events through the USA. He is also a collaborator on many open source Ruby projects and the writer of books such as "My Job Went to India". One of the most well known Ruby personalities. His keynote is titled "The Evolution of a Framework". 11:20 David Heinemeir Hansson (via video) Creator of Ruby on Rails™, he will participate virtually through online video. He will speak about the technology and answer directly to the audience's questions. 12:20 Lunch 14:00 George Malamidis He is a Technical Leader at ThoughtWorks. He collaborated on the delivery of mission critical apps in a variety of domains, from networks to banks, even Web 2.0. He is interested in scalable architectures for the Web, testing and distributed programming. He will speak about REST architectures, in particular the Rails™ RESTful implementation. Fabio Akita He published the first Ruby on Rails™ book in Portuguese, back in 2006, posts articles at his blog akitaonrails.com and is now Linux Product Manager at Locaweb. He will speak about what is going on at the Rails™ world and will open up a Q&A session with the audience. 15:10 Dr. Nic Williams Computer Sciences Ph. D, renowned Rails™ developer, he created several open source projects, publishes articles in his blog. In "Everyone can Participate", he'll speak about how to use the Web resources, such as git, ruby, blogs, mailing lists, for collaborative projects. Carlos Brando Carlos Brando, one of the main Ruby on Rails advocates in Brazil, currently works as an off-shore Rails developer for the north american consulting firm Surgeworks LLC.
